Calling birders of all skill levels to participate in the 2nd Annual Coldwater Christmas Bird Count on Saturday December 28, 2024!
Started in 1900, the Christmas Bird Count is North America’s longest-running Citizen Science project. Every year between December 15 and January 5, volunteers survey 24km circles in an effort to count the number of birds and variety of species present. The information collected by thousands of participants forms one of the world’s largest sets of wildlife survey data. The results are used by conservation biologists, environmental planners, and naturalists to assess the population trends and distribution of birds.
There are two ways to participate in the Bird Count:
count birds from home at your feeders
join a field team to survey a sector of the circle with experienced local birders
